About the Recipe

While not fun, probiotic enemas are a crucial part of the Born Free protocol. To make them less unpleasant, I've devised a quick no-nonsense prep routine that allows for bedbound administration and less clean up.

For those able enough, the BFP recommends the downward dog yoga pose for administration.

By delivering probiotics directly to the colon via an enema, these formulations bypass the stomach, ensuring a higher colonization rate of beneficial bacteria in the intestinal tract. This method is especially useful for introducing non-spore-forming probiotic strains that are otherwise vulnerable to stomach acids.

The practice of BFP probiotic enemas, typically involving strains like LGG bifido, L. sakei, and others, is believed to facilitate a similar colonization rate to fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT). Administered for a short duration, often three weeks, these enemas can significantly contribute to balancing gut flora, potentially alleviating symptoms associated with gut dysbiosis, and promoting overall digestive health.

However, it's crucial to consult healthcare professionals before starting any enema regimen to ensure safety and appropriateness for individual health conditions.

Ingredients

Ingredients:

1. Mood Super Strains Probiotic (L. rhamnosus, B. longum, Bifidobacterium bifidum, B. lactis, B. breve, B. infantis)

2. L. sakei probiotic

3. Ochek Probiotic (containing O. formigenes, L. acidophilus, L. rhamnosus, B. lactis)

Equipment:

  • Filtered water

  • Measuring cup (with at least 30 ml capacity)

  • Clean Enema bulb or syringe

  • Doggy/weewee pad or towel you don't care about if administering while lying down

  • Yoga mat for downward dog yoga pose application

  • Pillow for your head

  • Soft lighting and music for relaxation (optional)

Preparation

Steps:

Preparation:

  • Boil Water: Start by boiling filtered water to ensure it's sterilized.

  • Measure Water: Measure 30 ml of the boiled water and let it cool to a body-warm temperature.

  • Add Probiotic Capsule: Open a capsule of the Mood Super Strains Probiotic and add it to the water.

  • Add L. sakei and Ochek: Include a quarter teaspoon of each - L. sakei and Ochek probiotics.

  • Stir: Mix the solution thoroughly.

  • Fill Enema Tool: Using the enema bulb or syringe, draw about 20 ml of the prepared probiotic solution. More water means more "blowback."

Administration:

  • Set Up: Place a doggy pad on the bed for cleanliness. Create a comfortable environment with a pillow, dim lights, and calming yoga music, if desired.

  • Administer Enema: Get into a comfortable position and gently inject the enema preparation.

  • Relax in Pose: Maintain a 'downward dog' yoga pose or keep hips and legs elevated for 10 minutes. Use this time to relax and let your mind drift.

  • Final Step: After 10 minutes, visit the toilet to expel the enema solution.

  • Clean equipement with warm soapy water and let dry. Clean self as required.

Application Duration:

  • This probiotic enema needs to be performed daily for a period of 3 weeks for optimal results.

Note: It is crucial to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new health regimen, especially one involving enemas, as they can advise on the suitability and safety of this procedure for your individual health needs.
