About the Recipe

Electrolytes, consisting of vital minerals like potassium, sodium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and bicarbonate, play a crucial role in maintaining our body's balance and function.

These essential minerals are not just components of our diet; they are integral to numerous bodily processes. They facilitate vital functions such as ion transportation, signaling pathways, and nutrient absorption.

Without proper electrolyte balance, one might experience neurological symptoms, muscle spasms, and increased pain or inflammation.

Moreover, electrolytes often work in pairs, such as sodium with potassium and calcium with magnesium, meaning a deficiency in one can adversely affect the other.

Recognizing the challenges in maintaining these levels, especially in certain disease models, it's important to consume electrolytes gradually throughout the day, ideally with food. Interestingly, transdermal administration has emerged as an effective method for magnesium absorption and for other minerals affected by chronic inflammation.

IMPORTANT NOTE BEFORE INGESTION: Always consult a healthcare professional before ingesting electrolytes, especially if you have pre-existing kidney conditions, as electrolyte management can be particularly delicate in such cases.

The following shows elemental weights by compound to help you meet daily value totals:
• Sodium Chloride (Cl): 39% Na, 61 % Cl | eg. 6.4 g = 2.5 g sodium, 3.9 g chloride
• Potassium Chloride: 52% K, 48% Cl | eg. 9.6 g = 5 g potassium, 4.6 g chloride
• Calcium Phosphate: 39% Ca, 20% P | eg. 3.8 g = 1500 mg calcium, 770 mg phosphorus
• Disodium Phosphate: 32% Na, 22% P | eg. 7.73 g = 2.5 g sodium, 1.7 g phosphorus
• Monosodium Phosphate: 19% Na, 26% P | eg. 6.6 g = 1.25 g sodium, 1.7 g phosphorus
• Dipotassium Phosphate: 45% K, 18% P | eg. 10g = 4.5g potassium, 1.8g phosphorus

Ingredients

Ingredients:

  1. Himalayan pink salt (finely ground): 1/4 Teaspooon

  2. Potassium citrate: 1/4 Teaspoon

  3. Phosphorous disodium: 1/4 Teaspoon

  4. Red Marine calcium: 3 pills ground to a fine powder

  5. Vitamin C (as asorbic acid): 1/4 Teaspoon

  6. A tasty juice of your choice

IMPORTANT NOTE: I achieve my magnesium supplementation via magnesium oil spray/transdermally to avoid feeding pathogens in the gut. I take bicarbonate only occasionally as a 1/4 teaspoon in a small bit of hot water.

Notes About My Recipe: My quick recipe allows me to make "electros" fast and efficiently, so I can get to my other supps and focus on healing.

I tend to make seven days of electro powder at once and keep them in separate air-tight glass jars. This means when I need my electors, I only have to add one day's worth of powder, a splash of juice, and some filtered water to a cup. I then shake vigorously and enjoy!

Be sure to shake the pre-mixed batches of dry powder very well right before adding them to the cup to avoid clumping as phosphorous tends to clump if dumped in by itself. Notes About BFP Electrolytes: If adhering to the Born Free Protocol, you should measure out your electrolytes to help you meet the following daily totals (including ALL food and supplements that YOU need. Here are those totals. For sodium for example, you want more than 2.5 grams, 2.5 being the minimal required daily value, or DV.

  1. Sodium (Na): >2.5 g

  2. Potassium (K): >5 g

  3. Calcium (Ca): >750 mg. If deficient, target is 1.5-2 g

  4. Phosphorus (P): 1 g

  5. Magnesium (Mg): >500 mg

Preparation

Steps:

  1. Add shaker ball to a 24 oz. cup with a lid

  2. Add pre-mixed salt, vitamin c, potassium, phosphorous, and calcium powders to the cup

  3. Add 4 oz. of water

  4. Add 2 oz. of juice (I like watermelon)

  5. Stir everything up to get it moving real nice

  6. Top with filtered water

  7. Add ice, if you like

  8. Shake and sip throughout the day (except near the time you take copper/iron)
